Downward continuation of airborne gravity data

چکیده

$EVWUDFW With airborne gravimetry routinely reaching accuracies of 1-2 mGal at 5-10 km resolution, it is a challenge to perform a reliable downward continuation of the gravity anomalies at altitude. Airborne gravimetry is especially suited for geoid determination in mountainous and polar regions, due to the random, alias-free sampling of the terrain, relative to typical surface surveys. In the paper different operational methods based on collocation and FFT are outlined, and applied to downward continuation of surface data merging of airborne surveys over Greenland and Svalbard, ranging in survey altitudes from 150 m to 4100 m.

Evaluation and Comparison of the Processing Methods of Airborne Gravimetry Concerning the Errors Effects on Downward Continuation Results: Case Studies in Louisiana (USA) and the Tibetan Plateau (China)

Gravity data gaps in mountainous areas are nowadays often filled in with the data from airborne gravity surveys. Because of the errors caused by the airborne gravimeter sensors, and because of rough flight conditions, such errors cannot be completely eliminated. The precision of the gravity disturbances generated by the airborne gravimetry is around 3-5 mgal. A major obstacle in using airborne ...

ررسی شرط پیکارد در مسأله انتقال به سمت پائین در تعیین ژئوئید بدون استفاده از روش استوکس

The problem of downward continuation of the gravity field from the Earth’s surface to the reference ellipsoid arises from the fact that the solution to the boundary value problem for geoid determination without applying Stokes formula is sought in terms of the disturbing potential on the ellipsoid but the gravity observations are only available on the Earth’s surface. Downward continuation is a...

روش‌های تجزیه مقادیر منفرد منقطع و تیخونوف تعمیم‌یافته در پایدارسازی مسئله انتقال به سمت پائین

The methods applied to regularization of the ill-posed problems can be classified under “direct” and “indirect” methods. Practice has shown that the effects of different regularization techniques on an ill-posed problem are not the same, and as such each ill-posed problem requires its own investigation in order to identify its most suitable regularization method. In the geoid computations witho...

A Testbed for Airborne Inertial Geodesy: Terrestrial Gravimetry Experiment by INS/GPS

Gravimetry from a combination of INS and GPS measurements is well known and investigated since several years. The main application is in the field of airborne gravimetry, where the results can be used to fill the spectral gap between spaceborne gravity field data (from satellite missions such as CHAMP, GRACE or GOCE) and terrestrial data available from regional or continental gravity networks. ...

Data reduction in scalar airborne gravimetry: Theory, software and case study in Taiwan

The objective of this paper is to present theories of scalar airborne gravimetry and to publish the related software to interested readers for free access. Numerical procedures and techniques are developed to compute velocities and accelerations from GPS-determined positions. A method based on the correlation analysis of raw gravity reading and vertical acceleration of aircraft is used to corre...
